Arrival/Departure at School

There are two parking lots at Franklin. The north parking lot is off 19th Street and is the primary wing entrance for K-3 students. No parking is allowed between 8:30 am – 2:00 pm in this lot as this area is used for playground space. The main parking lot is located west of Franklin School on 19th Street. The lot is available for parking at all times. This area is used for drop off and pick up of students in grades 4-8.

Attendance - Excusing an Absence

When your child is absent for either a full or partial day, it is very important to report the absence to the office by 9:00 am the day of the absence. In the interest of student health and safety, the office staff will phone parents or contacts who have not reported to us. Please call the attendance hotline: 541-757-5824, or send an email to Franklin.Office@corvallis.k12.or.us. When reporting an absence, please include:

  • your name
  • student’s name
  • teacher
  • nature of the absence

If you are prearranging an absence for another day, please include the date of the absence.

Closed Campus

The Franklin campus is closed from the time students arrive in the morning until dismissal in the afternoon. Students are to remain on school grounds during that time unless they have permission to leave from the office and parent/guardian.

Electronic Devices (Personal)

In accordance with District Policy JFCEB, students are not allowed to use personal electronic devices at school during the regular school day. As used in this policy, a personal electronic
device is a device that emits an audible signal, vibrates, displays a message, or otherwise summons or delivers a communication in any form to the possessor of the device. Examples of personal electronic devices include (but are not limited to) cell phones, electronic games, iPods, and mp3 players. A copy of the full policy is available in the school office.

Students are encouraged not to bring these devices to school. If the student and parents find it necessary for a child to have the device with them (for after-school destinations), the devices must remain turned off and not on their person while on the school campus. We encourage students to check in devices to the office for safekeeping. The District is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal electronic devices brought to district property or school-sponsored events.

Exceptions to this policy may include advanced authorization by the building principal for health or safety reasons, in the event of an emergency of imminent physical danger, or as necessary and provided for as part of a student’s IEP.

While sandals are acceptable, no flip-flops, slippers, or high heel shoes are allowed. Closed-toed shoes are preferred.

Emergency and School Closures

All parents and guardians will receive an auto-dial phone call in the event of an emergency. Information will also be shared on the district’s website, through FlashAlert, and through Linn-Benton ALERT Emergency Notification System. Please keep your student’s emergency contact information up to date.

For more information about how we communicate with families in emergency situations, visit the school district’s Emergency and School Closure Notification page.
