Trip Dates: May 22-31, 2019 and May 23-June 1, 2019
For the last several years Franklin 7th Grade students have traveled to Washington DC for a nine day trip. We take along a parent for every 4 students and have a wonderful time exploring our nation’s capitol. Truly we “do” DC from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Museums, Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – just to name a few!
Thank you to all who made deposits for our airline tickets; deposits into student accounts should be made on a regular basis. Approximately half of the trip cost was due in accounts by Winter Break. The balance is due right after Spring Break by April 19th. Money for the trip is deposited at the school. Each student will have a separate account. Checks should be made out to Franklin School. You will receive a receipt when a deposit is made, and our office will then deposit your check with the school district. As far as we know the cost of the trip this year will be about $1,625 per person.
Partial scholarships ($200-$300) are available and awarded based on need. If you are asking for a scholarship, you must also be working the fundraisers. We would like to debit scholarships to student accounts before Spring Break.

We will be staying at the Marriott Residence Inn at 801 New Hampshire NW in DC.

Car Washes have been effective fundraisers, and we would like to schedule at least one more before our trip (the first one took place March 14 & 15 during conferences). We are looking for parent volunteers who would be willing to organize and run another car wash – please contact Ms. Kratchovil or Ms. Luke.
Pizza Cards are a great way to raise money – sell at OSU athletic events (Baseball Season is coming up), or parents might think about offering the pizza cards at their place of work. Pick up an information form from Ms. K in room 20.
Some authentic Beaver gear will be raffled off just in time for the Spring – featuring an OSU golf bag, a Nike athletic duffle, size 10 OSU slides, size 9 Nike athletic shoes, and a Beaver backpack. Parents needed for this fundraiser.
Franklin Community Garage Sale – June 1st
This is the PTA’s second annual Garage Sale and all proceeds go to support the Washington DC Scholarship Fund – drop off your donations after school on May 31st.
