Washington DC

Trip Dates: November 2020 (exact dates TBD) for the current 7th grade class

Note: The 7th grade Washington DC trip has historically happened in the spring; for this year’s class, due to changes in staff and some planning challenges, this year’s trip will happen in the fall of 2020 (in the student’s 8th grade year). The hope is to get back to a spring trip for 7th graders going forward.

For the last several years Franklin 7th Grade students have traveled to Washington DC for a nine day trip. We take along a parent for every 4 students and have a wonderful time exploring our nation’s capitol. Truly we “do” DC from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Museums, Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – just to name a few!

Financial News

Account Deposits

The first half of the trip’s account balance will be due by March 20, 2020; the remaining balance will be due by June 1, 2020. Money for the trip is deposited at the school. Each student will have a separate account. Checks should be made out to Franklin School. You will receive a receipt when a deposit is made, and our office will then deposit your check with the school district. As far as we know the cost of the trip will be about $1,625 per person.

Friday, December 6th – during Movie Night – this is a great opportunity for fundraising for DC! Ideas for items to sell: Crafts (like jewelry, artwork, etc.) and baked goods (cookies, candy, etc.). Set up can begin at 6:30pm – tables will be provided. Note: baked items will need to have signs that show ingredients.

There are several other fundraising opportunities available – check back for more details!

Partial scholarships ($200-$300) are available and awarded based on need. If you are asking for a scholarship, you must also be working the fundraisers.
