Franklin is excited announce our new MATHCOUNTS club.
- Who? Any student of 6th, 7th or 8th grade can participate. We currently have 14 students who are participating in the club.
- What? MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide middle school mathematics competition. MATHCOUNTS Competition is a series of fun and engaging “bee” style contests. Learn more about the program here: www.mathcounts.org
- When? The Club is meeting from 2 to 2:40 on Wednesdays during the skills period.
- How? We are excited to share that retired Math teacher Kris Warloe who has led multiple MATHCOUNTS teams to chapter, state and national success is coaching our students.
Club members are working with peers and Coach Kris to solve word problems using their critical thinking and reasoning skills, explore a variety of math topics and learn to work as a team to solve problems.
All registered club members will have an opportunity to participate at a school level competition in January, and Franklin will send a team of 4 selected members to the local Chapter competition in February (and possibly advance to State or National competitions!)
Thank you to Franklin School PTA and North Jackson Company for supporting MATHCOUNTS and our amazing Franklin kids!
